How To: Set up a Minimum Order Quantity for a Product¶

To set up a minimum order quantity for a product:

1. Make sure that on the Settings → General → Checkout page, the settings Minimum quantity to buy per product and Quantity step are configured to allow changing the values for individual items (see the icons to the right of the settings).

2. In the Admin panel, go to Products → Products.

3. Click the name of the product you wish to edit.

4. Enter the desired number in the Minimum order quantity field under the Pricing/Inventory section. Select one of the following options:

   • Global — the value specified as the Minimum quantity to buy per product on the Settings → General → Checkout page is applied.
   • Custom — specify the desired quantity for the selected product; in this case, the global value is not applied.
   • Edit global — if selected, you will be redirected to the Settings → General → Checkout page, where you can edit the value for the Minimum quantity to buy per product option.

   Note

   If the Custom option is selected, but the specified minimum order quantity is not compatible with the global Quantity step, the minimum order quantity will be adjusted. For example, if the Quantity step equals 2, and you want to specify Minimum order quantity as 1, the minimum order quantity will be automatically adjusted to 2. To avoid this, specify a Custom value for the Quantity step.

   

5. Click the Save button.

   Important

   After that, customers will not be able to order fewer units of this product in a single order than the value specified in the Minimum order quantity field.
